The MPCA meeting was held on April 12 to discuss:
Montgomery Place Garage Sale – Be ready May 7 for the community-wide garage sale. The MPCA will pay more than $1200 to rent porta-potties for the big day. For us, the Saskatoon Food Drive is May 4-5-6 with donation drop-offs at both schools in Montgomery Place.
Montgomery Place 70th Anniversary – Back to the 1940s – Save the date on September 17.
LAP –The ninth Local Area Planning (LAP) meeting held April 6 on Neighbourhood Safety brought out about 20 residents to discuss crime in the community. The LAP meeting on April 19 presented the neighbourhood safety action plan that City officials had drafted following the April 6 meeting, and after gathering crime statistics from the City Police.
Neighbourhood Traffic – The Montgomery Place Traffic Plan is scheduled for release in the first week of May, going before City Council for approval on May 23.

Neighbourhood Noise – In addition to the many sources of noise pollution, residents at the meeting mentioned the loud police aircraft. When it circles the neighbourhood, we know it.
Habitat Destruction – Trespassers on quads have discovered the greenspace north of the 3300 block of 11th Street. The Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area south of Montgomery Place is still a magnet for illegal dumping and joy-riders on ATVs and snow machines.

Indoor Programs – Thanks to a Montgomery Place resident, we will soon be able to offer Beginner Spanish for Vacationers. Information about grants for those in need of financial
assistance for classes will be promoted.

Drainage between Montgomery Park and Montgomery School – On June 27, work will begin to “upgrade the existing over-land storm water drainage methods … and greatly reduce the amount of standing water within Montgomery Park and its surrounding areas during the spring.” The work is forecast to take two months, weather permitting.
Montgomery School – Kindergarten registrations for 2016-17 continue to be accepted. Call the school at 306-683-7370. Plan to join us May 16-18 for our dessert theatre – The Jungle Book. No school April 29, and May 20-23. Thanks to City workers who drained the puddles.
St. Dominic School – Please join us on April 28 at 10:30 am for tea and to celebrate school projects commemorating the roots of Montgomery Place. Kindergarten registrations continue at 306-659-7290. No school April 25, May 20-23.
City of Saskatoon – Residents reported that there is still shortcutting over the cul-de-sac at the east end of 11th Street. Dumping is still occurring along Burma Road and at the Dundonald Avenue dead-end.
