The Saskatoon Police Service held a community information night on June 14, 2017. The event was well attended by residents from all areas of the city. The evening included two presentations followed by a question and answer session. We learned more about The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act (SCAN) and how it can help us to keep our streets safe. The Guns and Gangs division of the Saskatoon Police Service provided useful information for helping residents recognize various street gangs.

Many residents at the meeting expressed concerns over rental properties where drug activity is taking place in their neighbourhoods. The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act (SCAN) is provincial legislation aimed at reducing criminal activity associated with drugs, gangs, prostitution, and child exploitation. It’s important to report these activities to SCAN investigators who can perform surveillance and assist with the evictions of persons from properties being used for criminal activities.

If you see signs of illegal activities taking place at a property on your street, then please report it to the SCAN investigation unit at 1-855-933-6411. Your call and any information you provide will remain confidential.

You are the eyes and ears of our community. Thank you for helping to keep Montgomery Place a safe neighbourhood.
