The Montgomery Place Community Association met on Tues. Dec. 9th.
Many thanks to our guest Deirdre Lavalee for sharing information about the Restorative Justice Program with us. The program is designed for youth who are first time offenders of minor crimes who show remorse. The goal is to provide closure and/or restitution to the victum or community through participation of all involved.

Presidents report – Barb and Ben attended a very informative Presidents Workshop hosted by the city. Ben expressed how fortunate we are to have Barb, with her years of experience, as our President. Barb also attended the Parks and Recreation open house. They are gathering feedback for the future Parks & Recreation Plan.
Trains continue to be a problem. It was reported that on Nov. 19th trains blocked the tracks for an hour. Barb sent a complaint to Ottawa. Barb spoke to the Mayor, and received info and contact for Transport Canada from Kelly Block. Barb also spoke to Fire Chief Paulsen who is still working on a plan of action for emergency situations.

Rink – The new Rink Co-ordinator is Willis Kirkham, and our Rink Supervisors are Brad and Josh. Many thanks for your community spirit!

Veterans Monument – Received an email from a resident; there is another name of a female veteran to be added.

Tailgate Slamming at the South Snow Dump – Residents are encouraged to report it.

Treasurer Report – Attended Treasure’s workshop. Discussed refund policy and insurance coverage.

Social Report – Discussed ideas for possible Winter events.

Montgomery School – Reported on the success of the recent musical, the cookbook fundraiser and upcoming Kindergarten information night.

St. Dominic School – Reported on the success of the Stocking Stuffer Market and food hampers, upcoming concerts and Kindergarten registration.

City of Saskatoon – Discussed snowplowing, traffic, buses, and parks survey.
