Wildlife Visits – Unusual visitors to Montgomery Place this summer are an antelope and a pair of moose. There seem to be more rabbits than usual. Thankfully, the deer do not seem to be invading gardens and flowerbeds as much as they do in the winter.

Roads – A reminder that City bylaws prohibit ATVs, golf carts, go-carts and other similar vehicles on City roads, alleys and ditches. This includes all parks and the south berm.

Roadwork – Apologies for the report in the June-July newsletter that said reconstruction of Normandy Street, as well as Haida Avenue between Arnhem and Ortona Streets would go ahead this summer. That roadwork has been postponed until 2020 or 2021.

Pedestrian Safety – Walkers and runners– stay on the side of the road facing traffic and dress to be seen. Cyclists, bike with the traffic; at night wear reflective protective clothing.

Pets – If your dogs are outside and barking non-stop, take them inside. There is NO area of Montgomery Place that is off-leash, so keep your pets leashed – cats as well as dogs. Pick up after your pets. Remember that pets cannot be tethered near any play areas in our parks.

Firepits – Open-air fires are permitted only between the hours of 2-11 pm daily.

City of Saskatoon – At the meeting residents heard from Angela Schmidt and Zak McKay regarding drainage. The possibility of a community ditch clean-up each spring was discussed. Other presenters were Melissa Austin and Keith Folkersen regarding Local Area Plan progress. LAP discussion included enhancing the cairn corner in Montgomery Park, creating a standard poppy motif, banners on light poles, and a new community sign. See here for a full summary.

Trains – A perpetual issue, causing traffic delays and isolation from emergency services.

City Councillor – City staff held an Open House on June 19 to discuss future interchanges at Laurier Drive, Clancy Drive and Circle Drive. Councillor Hilary Gough investigated the closure at 11th Street and Dundonald Avenue on Tuesday, June 25. See the report here.
