Blanket Exercise – Reconciliation History

St. David’s Trinity United Church, the neighbourhood church in Montgomery Place, invites you to learn more about Canada’s history from the perspective of First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Join friends and neighbours on Sunday, October 20 from noon to 3 pm in the lower hall of the church at the corner of Rockingham Avenue and Merritt Street in a Blanket Exercise. Come at 10:30 am to take in the Reconciliation worship service first, or come at 11:30 am to enjoy a free lunch of soup and bannock before the exercise begins.

Look forward to an interactive exercise that has been developed by KAIROS, an ecumenical social justice group. It will be led by Julie Graham of KAIROS and Elder Maryanne Napope. As the exercise begins, there are blankets that represent all the land that was once the domain of Indigenous people. As the exercise ends, only small islands of folded blankets remain.
