Montgomery Place 70th Anniversary – Back to the 1940s – Save the date on September 17.
Neighbourhood Traffic – News! Sometime this summer the traffic speed on Montgomery Place roads will be reduced to 40 kph. The 11th Street Bypass and the 3400 block of the
original 11th Street will remain at 50 kph.
Montgomery Place Garage Sale – Friday night was busy although Saturday is the big day. Some people asked for maps of the neighbourhood. Commercial vendors are an increasing challenge. Courtesy is another challenge; a young person had her foot run over by a truck.
Poppies in the Park – The MPCA has purchased pots and volunteers have planted poppies to be placed in front of the cairn in Montgomery Park. Thanks to our green thumb volunteers.
LAP –The tenth Local Area Planning (LAP) meeting was held April 19 on Neighbourhood Safety. Read more about it here.
LAP Open House – A LAP Open House will be June 23 6-9pm (come and go) in Montgomery School. City planners will present their findings, hoping to confirm and refine the information gathered from residents at the monthly meetings. There will be a concurrent Civic Operations Centre display. Community feedback will assist City Planners to draft the Montgomery Place LAP.
City Councillor Report – Pat Lorje reported that Montgomery Place, part of the northwest policing division, has a new Officer in Charge – Inspector Lisa Lafreniere. Pat and Barb Biddle toured with Darren Crilly, Director of Parks, to inspect ditches around Circle Drive which are too steep to mow. The tour extended to the St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area where garbage and deep wheel ruts were a major concern.
St. Barbe Baker Forest Clean-Up – Friends of the forest have organized a clean-up for July 9 starting at 8 am. If you can help, RSVP to StBarbeBaker@yahoo.com.

MPCA Summer Classes from July 12-August 30 – Tuesday nights 5:45-6:30 pm – Outdoor Fitness – $40 – Also Outdoor Yoga from 6:45-7:45 pm – $40. Call Candace at 306-978-0261.
Sports Equipment – Balls, helmets and other sporting equipment in MPCA storage for too long were divided and donated to Montgomery and St. Dominic Schools.
Montgomery Park Rink Repairs – Call Jim McAllister at 306-380-6712 if you can help.
Drainage between Montgomery Park and Montgomery School – At the end of June, a two-month project will begin to fix the long-standing problem of drainage in Montgomery Park.
Montgomery School – Kindergarten registrations for 2016-17 continue to be accepted. Call the school at 306-683-7370. Play Day is the afternoon of June 6. Last day of school is June 29 with a Farewell Assembly at 9 am. Meet the Staff family picnic – Sept. 16.
St. Dominic School – New mosaics adorn our hallways thanks to students and the Artists in Schools program. Kindergarten registrations continue at 306-659-7290 – with an orientation June 8 at 1 pm. June 24 is Kindergarten and Grade 8 farewell celebrations. Last day – June 28.
City of Saskatoon – Street sweeping and pothole repairs are underway.
