The Montgomery Place Local Area Plan (LAP) was approved by City Council in November 2018. Now we can consider moving forward with some of the recommendations.
Recommendations for parks and open spaces include:
- Make improvements and improved seating in Montgomery Park.
- Integrate the image of the poppy in Montgomery Park.
- Add bottle baskets in area parks.
- Add a neighbourhood sign at the west entrance to the community.
- Conserve the St. Barbe Baker Forest through the Green Infrastructure Strategy.
Heritage and Culture recommendations include: - Add the veterans’ monument to the Saskatoon Register of Historic Places.
- Nominate our community for a Municipal Heritage Award.
- Plan an event to commemorate Montgomery Place heritage.
- Develop a self-guided historical walking tour.
- Create and install banners for light poles around Montgomery Park.

Some residents would also like to see flag poles installed near the monument in Montgomery Park. Members of the Montgomery Place Community Association wonder how you would like to see the poppy motif incorporated. Ideas so far include adding the motif to our street signs, including it on the banners proposed for light poles, incorporating the poppy motif into the backs of any benches that may be added in our parks, and creating sculptural poppy artwork in our parks.
