New days for garbage and recycling cart collection begin January 4, 2016. Residents can find their new days in their personalized print calendar that was delivered earlier this month, and at saskatoon.ca/collectioncalendar.

Each neighbourhood will have recycling and garbage collection on their new day, between January 4 and 15. The average transition period from the last collection on the 2015 schedule to the first new day in 2016 for both programs is two weeks.

For five neighbourhoods, a special collection will be provided for blue recycling carts to reduce the impact of a gap of more than three weeks:

  • Avalon, Stonebridge and The Willows – Monday, January 4
  • Lakeridge and Lakeview – Wednesday, January 6

Please place your blue recycling cart by 7:00 a.m. on your special collection day and leave it until it is collected, which may take up to two days.

Weekly garbage collection continues through the holidays until January 2, after which normal winter bi-weekly collection resumes from January 4 until April 29. Residents can also take additional and over-sized recyclable material to any of the City’s recycling depots. Live Christmas trees can be dropped off unwrapped and unbound for composting until January 31 at various locations listed at saskatoon.ca/christmastree.

The City thanks everyone for their patience during this brief transition period and encourages people to remind their neighbours about the new collection days, and help someone with physical challenges by rolling out their cart. Sign up for handy phone or email reminders for your black, blue and green cart collection at saskatoon.ca/collectioncalendar.
