The north-south trench in the park will soon be sodded. Work on a V-ditch that will follow the north side of the Ortona Street boulevard east to Lancaster Boulevard will drain the swale. It will be completed after the swale – which will be ready for the start of the school year. Once the ditch along Ortona Street is completed to carry water east to Lancaster, it is anticipated that drainage from Lancaster Boulevard will proceed south towards Chappell Yards as it does now. To complete the drainage work, Ortona Street from Lancaster Boulevard to Crerar Drive will be closed beginning August 19, 2016.
