Montgomery Place Garage Sale – May 2, 2015. Get ready!
Easter Egg Hunt – On April 4 you’ll want to join your neighbours for an Easter Egg Hunt in Montgomery Park from 2-4 pm. The Family Fun event on February 28 in Montgomery Park was a success. For photos, visit montgomeryplace.ca
Local Area Plan (LAP) – Konrad André, a Senior Planner with the City of Saskatoon, met to inform the MPCA about the upcoming LAP process. Since 1999, 13 Saskatoon communities have prepared LAPs. Learn more in the insert with this newsletter. We encourage all of you to participate. What are your present concerns for Montgomery Place? What would you like to see in the future? Share your disquiets and your dreams.
Infill – MPCA President Barb Biddle attended a City of Saskatoon Planning & Development committee meeting on March 2. The current formula for calculating the side wall length of a new building is based on the length of the lot. With some Montgomery lots as long as 250’, an infill building could conceivably be 100’ long. Barb argued for special consideration for Montgomery Place lots. MPCA will also address this through the LAP process.
North Ridge – The deadline for contest entries to name the new development north of 11th Street is March 27. The winner will receive a $500 Visa card.
Veterans’ Memorial Monument – One more name will be added this summer to the monument in Montgomery Park.
Trains – No improvements have been noticed by any MP residents. Fire Chief Dan Paulsen and his committee continue to work for resolution to long delays and the associated problems of air and noise pollution.
Roads – Culverts are frozen. Potholes are everywhere. To report, call 306-975-2476.
Montgomery School – Donations for the outdoor classroom, including student lab coats, are still welcomed. Tour the classroom area at the April MPCA meeting. Science Excellence Week is April 20-24. We’re hopeful that new culverts on Ortona and Currie will help drainage this spring. Happy Easter to all.
St. Dominic School – Classes are fundraising with an Easter Gift Basket raffle. View the baskets at the school and get your tickets before the April 1 draw. April 1 will also be a Day of Pink against bullying.
City of Saskatoon – There are spring events for community associations including a Trade Show and an Appreciation Party on April 23. Visit www.shapingsaskatoon.ca to comment on a draft of the new Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Visit saskatoontransit.ca to track buses in real-time. Have your say on the Saskatoon of the future at www.growingfwd.ca . Would Montgomery residents be interested in organizing a spring clean-up of Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area south of Montgomery Place?
Next Meeting – Tues, Apr. 14, 2015 at 7 pm. Montgomery School Library. All are welcome.
