The Montgomery Place Community Association (MPCA) met on May 14, 2015 to discuss:

Confusion! – When our printer printed the May 2014 newsletter by mistake, we heard about it immediately. The most asked question was –“Is the Garage Sale really on a Sunday this year?” Our printer extends sincere apologies to everyone. Hopefully the May 2015 newsletter delivered a couple of days later cleared things up. Even the mail carriers were confused.

Montgomery Garage Sale – Another successful day is behind us. There was discussion of doubling the porta-potties for 2016 to cut down on the line-ups. Placement around the community was also discussed.

Local Area Plan (LAP) – Attend the launch meeting at St. Dominic School at 7 pm on Thursday, May 28. Share your vision for Montgomery Place.

St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area Clean-Up – Join others who are committed to a healthy, safe and sustainable environment. Help clean-up the forest area south of Chappell Yards on Saturday, June 6, 2015 between 9 am and 3 pm.

LAP Traffic Meeting – Meet staff from the City’s Transportation Division to voice your opinions on traffic issues on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 7 pm at St. Dominic School.

Traffic Safety – Motorists are not giving pedestrians the right-of-way in the crosswalk at St. Dominic School. The corner of Dieppe Street and Crerar Avenue is a pedestrian crosswalk. Please drive with caution and respect.

Drainage – Montgomery folks have been tackling drainage problems since 1946! Carrying on this long tradition, Montgomery School and the City are surveying issues of drainage along Currie Avenue and in the playground west of the school.

Historic Sites and Monuments Board Heritage Designation – MPCA President Barb Biddle continues to move our request for a letter of support from the City of Saskatoon through City channels of communication.

Recreation Building in Montgomery Park – Renovations are underway to change the west door to discourage, and hopefully prevent, the urination that occurs there.
11th Street Development – Residents in the 3200 block of 11th Street report good cooperation from work crews across the street.

Montgomery School – If your child is ready for kindergarten, please join us for a Kindergarten Sneak Peek on Friday, May 29 at 12:45 pm. Also, contact Trish Cawood at 306-203-6225 if you can help with the outdoor classroom on May 29. Community neighbours are welcome to attend the year-end assembly on Thursday, June 25 at 9 am. Fall registration is September 1 from 8:45 am to 11:38 am. Kindergarten students have a come-and-go registration for the first hour. The first full day of school is Tuesday, September 2, 8:45 am to 3:15 pm. To register your child before September 1, call Montgomery School at 306-683-7370.

St. Dominic School – The Kindergarten and Grade 8 Farewell will be on June 18. There will be a Family Picnic on June 22. The last day of school is June 25.

City of Saskatoon – So far almost 50 online responses have come in regarding the Montgomery Place LAP. Street-sweeping in Montgomery is scheduled for June 14 and the evening of June 23 for the school zones. Check http://apps2.saskatoon.ca/app/astreetsweeping/ .
