The Montgomery Place Community Association met on October 14. Discussions included:

City of Saskatoon Landfill Methane Gas Project – Earlier this year, Saskatoon began collecting methane gas at the landfill for use at the power generation plant. While a praiseworthy initiative, it has come with a marked increase in noise. Let City Councillor Pat Lorje know if noise pollution from the landfill is a concern for you. Email Pat.Lorje@saskatoon.ca .

Track the Trains – Email Pat.Lorje@saskatoon.ca when trains delay you. Note the date and time, how long you were delayed, the track and direction of travel, and whether the train actually stopped across the intersection.

Saskatoon’s Bylaw Amendment re Lot Size – Montgomery Place lot frontage will remain at a 60 ft. minimum and will not be affected by the bylaw amendment.

11th Street Rezoning – East of Circle Drive, there is a proposed rezoning of 11th St. from heavy industrial to general light industrial.

Signs – Poor signage on Dundonald Ave. was discussed again. We need large No Access to Landfill signs. Our city rep Karen Farmer will look into this again. The sign indicating that the 3300 block of 11th St. is not a through street is also too small and discreet, surprising many drivers unfamiliar with the new configuration. GPS sites have not been updated yet, which adds to the confusion. Directional signs at Crescent Blvd. and 11th St. still impede sight lines.

North Ridge Meeting – A sales meeting was held on October 15 at Montgomery School with people who expressed an interest in the North Ridge townhouse project north of the 3200 block of 11th St. West.

Community Classes – Low registration forced the cancellation of Stargazing and the Babysitter Course. Other registrations remained strong.

Montgomery School – Neighbours are invited to the Remembrance Service on November 6 at 1 pm. A musical, Once Upon a Dream, will be held on December 2 and 3.

Next Meeting – November 12, 2014 (Wednesday evening, not the second Tuesday as usual) at 7 pm in the Montgomery School Library.
