The Montgomery Place Community Association (MPCA) met on September 4. Neighbourhood activities of note include:

MPCA AGM – The Annual General Meeting of the Montgomery Place Community Association is Tuesday, October 2 at 7 pm in the Montgomery School Library. Proposed bylaw amendments as recommended by the MPCA will be presented for approval by the membership. See our website at www.montgomeryplace.ca/proposed-revised-bylaws-2018 for a complete draft of the bylaws.

Public Information Meeting – City of Saskatoon Planning and Development staff will hold a meeting on Thursday, October 11, 7 pm in Montgomery School regarding the application for discretionary use of the home at 3437 11th Street West as a 32-child preschool.

Remembrance Service – The neighbourhood Remembrance Service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the cairn and monument in Montgomery Park beginning at 10:50 am. The short service will be followed by visiting over warm beverages and cookies in the lower hall of St. David’s Trinity United Church. A presentation of Montgomery Place veterans’ photos will be shown in the church sanctuary.

Saskatoon Fire Department – Fire Chief Morgan Hackl and Assistant Fire Chief Mike Rolstan from the Saskatoon Fire Department joined us to discuss fire safety and response time in Montgomery Place. See the report here.

Indoor Programs – Fall classes started the week of September 17. Registration night was busy. Hip Hop was very popular; a second class was added, along with another pickleball class. Two classes were cancelled because of low registration – youth crochet and Zumba Sentao. We would like to offer a Zumba class for winter session. Email suggestions for a winter Zumba class to communications@montgomeryplace.ca.

Community WatchRead a summary of the Crime Prevention Meeting on September 20 here. The Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners invites people to attend a Community Meeting to discuss issues impacting Saskatoon on October 9, 7-9 pm, at the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market.

Local Area Plan (LAP) – City of Saskatoon planners Mark Emmons and Keith Folkersen are making progress drafting the Montgomery Place LAP. See their report here.

Trains – Train delays for drivers heading in and out of Montgomery Place continue. Train noise, especially during the night, does not abate.

Teacher Tours – MPCA President Barb Biddle gave community tours for teachers from St. Dominic School on September 12 and Montgomery School on October 5, informing teachers of the history of Montgomery Place and pointing out community landmarks.

Montgomery School – Welcome to Vice Principal David Crowell. No school Oct 5 and Oct 8. Education Week is Oct 13-20.

St. Dominic School – Welcome to Vice Principal Albert Couture. No school Oct 5 and Oct 8.
