The Montgomery Place Community Association (MPCA) met on November 7 for its regular meeting. The MPCA executive extend warm holiday wishes to all in Montgomery Place. Discussion at the November meeting included:

Community Rink in Montgomery Park – Rink Coordinator Jim McAllister has begun to make ice. A volunteer crew is assembling, call Jim at 306-380-6712. Thanks to Colton Woytko who has offered help. Thank you to the volunteer who made welding repairs to the net frames.

Speed Board – A cheque for the community speed board (purchase approved at the annual meeting last month) will not be due until February. No extra insurance is needed since the City will make all repairs.

Drainage – The City is taking action on non-compliant driveways and culverts.
See www.saskatoon.ca/services-residents/power-water/water-wastewater/culvert-guidelines Collapsed culverts under Dundonald Avenue were replaced.

Roads – Observations put forward included: 1. There is a 50 km speed sign on Dundonald Avenue south of the Mountbatten Street corner. Since Dundonald dead-ends almost immediately, who thought this sign was necessary? 2. Just south of 11th Street in the Crescent Boulevard boulevard, more bollards are needed to extend farther north to stop short-cutting from one alley to the next. 3. At the east end of 11th Street, drivers are again short-cutting over the curb to join 11th Street. City staff will investigate these situations.

Light – Are the lights at the snow dump on timers? The digital sign at the 11th Street off- ramp from Circle Drive is too bright again. Councillor Gough will look into these concerns.

Solar Project – Saskatoon Light & Power is exploring a solar energy field immediately east of Dundonald Avenue, at the eastern perimeter of Montgomery Place. See Councillor Hilary Gough’s update.

Local Area Planning (LAP) – For results of the Noise Study and the Land Use Survey, see www.montgomeryplace.ca/lap and www.saskatoon.ca/lap for a report from LAP planner Melissa Austin.

MPCA Facebook – Check the MPCA Facebook group for lost and found items and pets.

Indoor Programs – Thank you and welcome to Elsie Thoma who joins Karen Humpreys on the Indoor Coordinator team. Registration Night for winter programs is January 10, 2018, 6:30-8 pm, St. Dominic School gym. Remember, the rules have been tightened – no early, late or online registrations. Register at the school, in person or send a friend.

Soccer Coordinator – Parent with kids who want to play soccer – we need you. The MPCA is looking for a Soccer Coordinator. Don’t disappoint your kids. Volunteer to coordinate the soccer program. Call Karen Humphreys at 306-382-4007.

Community Watch – The suspicious vehicle on Elevator Road this fall prompted a look at how we communicate in emergencies. The Montgomery Moms Facebook group shared the information. The City Police Liaison Officer was contacted. Heather Chapman will investigate if the Police contact both schools in the neighbourhood in these situations.

Trains – Long trains continue to frustrate trips in and out of Montgomery Place.

Montgomery School – School is out on December 22 and back on January 8, 2018.

St. Dominic School – The Christmas Concert is December 14. The last day of school is Friday, December 22. Classes are back on Monday, January 8, 2018.
